Grand AlienNation

We envision a future where no grandparent is separated from their grandchildren, where family bonds and solutions are prioritized over conflict, and where the American family unit is strengthened through love, healing, and connection.

This is what working on myself and still enjoying life looks like. You should try it. It keeps me staying positive instead of staying stuck in grief See MoreSee Less

I've done this with my child and still I get no response. Sacrificing your dignity and self worth is not worth the wasted effort of apologizing for being human. See MoreSee Less

This is a sad day for me. I'm donating Willie's car seat today, to Safe House a shelter for battered women and their children. While I'm happy to give it to an organization that helps so many women, I'm sad that I had to give it up.
I was holding on to it in the hopes that he'd be back, but he's 5 now and by the time I see him again this car seat will be too small and he probably won't require one.
If your kid has iced you out of their life for no reason that can't be resolved with ho'oponopono, conversations and family intervention, I'm sorry and I feel your pain. It's a pain no good parent should have to endure.

And I'm a fkg great parent.

I have a theory about estrangement behavior. Take a listen and lmk if you think this will work See MoreSee Less

How many days old were you when you realized this??? See MoreSee Less

They’re not asking themselves, “Do I miss my parent?”

They’re asking themselves:

“Will it feel safe if I reach out?”

That’s the part most parents never realize.

Estranged adult children don’t come back because you want them to.

They come back when they believe the emotional experience will be different.

And that shift doesn’t happen through words.

It happens through emotional safety.

I wrote about this because it changes everything.

The “30%” Wake-Up Call
Nearly 30% of Americans say they’re estranged from at least one close family member. Let that sink in for a second. This isn’t rare anymore. It’s not “just your family.” It’s a growing pattern happening quietly in homes everywhere.
If you’re a parent or grandparent living through estrangement, I want you to know you’re not alone, and you’re not crazy for feeling crushed by it.
Question for you: What do you think is driving this rise in estrangement?

undefinedEstrangement often happens when conversations stop feeling safe.
Becoming emotionally safe does not mean walking on eggshells or erasing who you are. It means learning how to pause, listen, and respond with care instead of reaction. Emotional safety is not about perfection. It is about consistency, awareness, and trust built over time.
First question:
What does emotional safety mean to you today?

Estrangement isolates people in ways few understand.
When you have a community, it reminds us that our story is not unique and that our pain is shared. Healing does not require answers. It requires support, learning, and space to grow without judgment.
